Inventor’s Bike Folds Into Its Own Wheel

Dominic Hargreaves‘s bike, The Contortionist, has been shortlisted for this year’s James Dyson Award for innovation. It may bag the young inventor £10,000.

The 24-year-old, from Battersea, London, said he wanted to create a decent folding bike after the one he was using collapsed. “I couldn’t find a folding bicycle I liked,” he added. “I wanted something that could take a bit of punishment and that you could have fun with. “So I made one myself.”

Mr Hargreaves has been in contact with various manufacturers and hopes to get the bike into production soon.

His bike lock system (see photo) won the Toyota IQ Awards.

That is really amazing thing I have seen. If he could be able to automate the process of folding and unfolding we would be riding Transformers!

That is incredible. I live in a small apartment in and this would really save me some space.

It’s no wonder he’s from London. Let’s hope he win’s the award!

There used to be a magazine that my Father always got called “Popular Mechanics.” I’m not sure if it is still around but this type of invention would have been featured in it.

Great idea, compact and something Billy Mays would have been proud of. Of course, I’m not sure if that’s such a good thing.

I’m officialy impressed! I know it’s is old news, but this is something else. How in hell did they make front fork fold like that?! The only thing missing is beer opener, and you are set for a road trip. 🙂
